So you’ve stocked all the freeze dried foods, but have no idea how to use them to make meals! Here’s my easy Freeze Dried Ham & Scalloped Potato Casserole Dinner.
Ingredients
Todays ingredients include all long term stored foods. These are also perfect for those days you forgot to pull meat from the freezer. Which is why this recipe happened lol.
- Freeze Dried Potatoes
- Freeze Dried Cheese Powder
- Freeze Dried Milk Powder
- Freeze Dried Ham
- Freeze Dried Garlic
- Freeze Dried Onion
- Freeze Dried Butter
FOR THE MEAL IN A JAR VERSION
To modify this for a meal in a jar, split ingredients between two jars layering in the following order for best presentation.
- Cheese powder on bottom split between two jars
- Butter powder
- Milk powder
- dried onions
- dried garlic
- salt & pepper
- Freeze dried ham chunks
- Dried Potato Slices
When Ready to cook poor both jars into 9×13 pan add 7 cups of HOT water, stir until combined, bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 min



Freeze Dried Cheesy Ham & Scallop Potatoes
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Cheese Powder
- 5 Cup Sliced Potato
- 1 tbsp Butter Powder
- 1 1/2 Cup Ham Diced
- 1 tbsp Milk Powder
- 1 tbsp Dried Onion
- 1/2 tbsp Dried Garlic
- 1/2 tbsp Black Pepper Optional
- 1 tsp Salt Optional
- 7 Cups Hot Water
Instructions
- Add 5 Cups of freeze dried or dried potato slices to a bowl and cover with warm/hot water.
- Add 1 1/2 cups of sliced or cubed freeze dried ham to a bowl and cover with warm/hot water.
- Add 1/2 cup warm water to dried onion and garlic
- Let all sit to reconstitute for at least 45 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- Next, add reconstituted potatoes to 9×13 glass dish and cover with diced ham
- Stir in reconstituted onions and garlic and top with salt and pepper if using.
- Mix 1 1/2 cups hot water with cheese and milk powders and whisk until a loose gravy consistency is achieved. If too thick add more hot water, if too thin add a bit more cheese powder. You don't want this too runny or too thick.
- Back at 350 degrees for 25-30 min or until everything is warmed thoroughly.
