Shelf Stable Lasagna Skillet Meal In A Jar

Shelf Stable Lasagna Skill Meal In A Jar

My new obsession is meals in a jar! You seriously can’t go wrong with having a few of these on the shelf ready for when you need them. I tend to grab for my meals in a jar during busy weekdays when I forgot to pull meat from the freezer. These are also amazing for emergencies as they typically only need water to make and have all the important macro nutrients ready to go.

Hamburger Helper

I created this lasagna skillet recipe after looking at the price of a regular box of hamburger helper. For just one box with one meal is $1.66 at my local Walmart. I remember as a kid these were 50 cents a box. Guess those days are long gone! Not only did I have a bit of sticker shock, but also the ingredients are full of additives, colors, and words I can not even pronounce. That’s not really what I want to be putting into my little kiddos bodies even if it is a nostalgic dish for me. So I created this shelf stable lasagna skillet meal in a jar to satisfy my craving for this dish.

Storage

The best and easiest way to store this base is to place it into a glass jar and vacuum seal the lid so there is no air. This allows the base to stay shelf stable for years. If you don’t have a vacuum sealer just store in a tightly closed jar and keep away from light and moisture.

Freeze Dried

Many of you have seen I got a Harvest Right Freeze dryer and have partnered with Thrive Life freeze dried foods. I can’t even begin to tell you all the benefits of freeze dried foods because the possibilities are seriously endless. Making meal in a jar recipes have become a new obsession. If you’ve been considering purchasing a freeze dryer now is a wonderful time to use Harvest Right’s layaway program and lock in the May sale price.
