Comparing
I wanted to find a laundry detergent that I could store long term that wouldn’t be bulky, spill, or get clumps if it was in storage for a year. Liquid detergents have potential to spill and would cause a HUGE mess in my storage room. Powders tend to start clumping after 6 months of storage and I wanted something that I could store longer with no issues. I’ve made a few of my own powder base detergents which worked well in the washer but I also wanted something that I could use with hot or cold water if I needed to do laundry by hand for off gird situations.
Wants & Needs
At one point I thought maybe I needed to lower my expectations of what I viewed as the perfect laundry solution. So I dove into the internet looking for a perfect laundry detergent match. I ruled out liquid based detergents just for the spill and bulk aspects. Then I ruled out powders for the clumping issues with long term storage.
