The Easiest Way To Grow Mushrooms In A Tiny Space

I recently did an experiment with growing mushrooms in a tiny space! Not only was in budget friendly these kits would be another good addition to anyones preps. Budget friendly prep, I think YES!

Back To The Roots Organic Mushroom Grow Kit, is a wonderful project for kids and EXTREMELY simple. So don’t worry if you don’t have a green thumb because this one doesn’t need one! All you need to have yummy mushrooms is water and a window that gets sun. Yup that’s it.

Choosing A Kit

There are a few different types of kits depending on what kind of mushrooms you and your family enjoys the most. The one we got was the mini mushroom kit and I caught it on sale through Amazon for only $7. What a steal for organic mushrooms. Within 2 days you will have little spores develop into pins like the picture shown below.

My kids thought this was the coolest thing to see! They quickly take off.

Even Ollie The Monkey wanted to check it out! haha

By Day 5 you will see mushroom caps forming.

This is day 7 above and I most definitely could’ve started harvesting them. However, I waited one more day which you can see below. By waiting the one day you can see they had started to wrinkle a bit which means they were needing to be harvested.

On harvest day I added some to my egg whites, and the others actually ended up in the freeze dryer. I will be pulling those and showing them on video tomorrow. I was impressed with how many mushrooms my mini kit produced.

Next round I will get their Organic Shiitake Mushrooms.

In Conclusion
